Forms, structures and graphic symbols

„Painting is the continuation of perception with other means.“

Since graduating from the college of graphic design (nude painting and painting with Prof. Drach) I have concentrated – apart from working as an art director – on the various possibilities of expression in the fine arts. I have a strong desire to realize my very personal creativity – without any targets or target groups, i.e. combining colour, form and structure within a momentous field of tension into a homogeneous entity has always been my main goal. I started working on paper, molino and jute canvas, plywood, cardboard, and remnants of molino. By combining different materials I tried to approach my final goal and thus created extensive collages with chalk, acryl and other colours, pieces of wire representing lines, filler, and remnants of jute canvas serving as a surface or intensifying structures. From 1993 onwards I have concentrated on painting and drawing. Above all, I have been interested in symbols (scripture and picture) of antique and foreign cultures, which made me develop my own language of symbols and has had a strong influence on my work up to this day.

Development of “DIGIGRAPHIE” as an artistic form of expression

„Computer and modern technique determine our daily life – art has to go into new media as well“.

In 2000 I started experimenting with a new technique. It was a search for new forms of expression to alienate or intensify the appearance of traditional painting. There is no emphasis on the computer as a medium. The computer is just a tool for the creation of a vast number of variations. Graphic elements drawn by hand remain the essential parts, which are scanned and processed in different layers. These compositions are then transformed into colour, contrast and various levels. The digital print (“Digigraphie”) is the final step of this procedure. Each sheet is unique. It cannot be reproduced a second time.

digi-tales – objects and how they emerge

„Not the final work of art, but the artistic creation is the actual work of art.“

Digi-tales is a collection of works dealing with my new “CD-ARTs”. Not only do these art objects look good on any wall, they also disclose their creative procedure.
Painting and drawing remain of major importance. It is not paper or canvas which is used, but a compact disc. The creative procedure is filmed and banned on this very CD. The CD-ROM turns into a “CD-ART”. Being a work of art it is hanging on a wall. But entered into a computer it shows the creative procedure and discloses my way of creative working.

KIWA-KIDS - The Kiwanis Game!

Being a member of the KIWANIS Club Spittal/Drau, I developed a card game for children in autumn 2001. The game communicates the ethic and moral principles of the KIWANIS-society: tolerance, helpfulness, friendship and also the KIWANIS-motto: “Let us build a bridge for the future of children”. Profits from the sale of these games are used for charity purposes.

The game

“KIWA-KIDS” is a card game for children (60 cards, 6 joker) for 2 – 6 players from three years onwards. The many variations of the game mean lots of fun and include educational purposes. The unusual form of the cards makes it easy for children to handle them. Primary colours and simple pictograms help children memorize colours, learn and classify symbols. The basic idea of the game is to evoke a tolerant attitude towards a peaceful, anti-racist living together of all human beings – regardless of nationality, or religious belief.
